The talavera is a type of majolica (common ceramic with metallic enamel) from the states of Puebla and Tlaxcala. The quality of its clays and the tradition of its manufacture date back to the 16th century. The colors used in its decoration are blue, yellow, black, green, orange and mauve. Each piece is handmade around, and the glaze contains tin and lead, as they have been made since colonial times.
